Law firm with Nordic charm

Cornelius + Krage, a corporate law firm based in Kiel, Germany, has implemented a Scandinavian-inspired design concept when furnishing and designing its new premises.

The headquarters of the renowned Cornelius + Krage Rechtsanwälte PartG mbB, one of the leading corporate law firms in northern Germany, is located in a first-class location directly at the Port of Kiel. The law firm recently rented an enclosed area of 330 square metres with its own entrance in the so-called Sell-Speicher, a six- and eight-storey modern building that opens out to the water. In addition to the existing floors, the firm now has even more room for meetings and notarisations.

Scandinavian inspired design concept

The location on the Inner Firth of Kiel and the proximity to Scandinavia are reflected in the design concept of the inviting and brightly designed premises. In addition to a spacious reception and waiting area with a tall terrazzo counter and a cosy, bright upholstered sofa, there are modern and highly soundproof meeting rooms for large and small groups, as well as a separate box for one-to-one meetings and confidential phone calls. A three-sided window front provides an impressive view of the Kiel fjord from almost all rooms.

Light ash wood as a central material

Glass walls create transparency inside, but there are also curtains made of slats for more privacy that can be operated electrically. Light ash wood is found as a central material on the wall surfaces, radiator panels and built-in furniture, creating a calm contrast to some bright red and royal blue upholstered furniture as well as the dark window frames.

Deep ash wood frames serve as visually sophisticated room dividers on the corridor-side glass walls. In the wide hallway, the furniture built into the walls stands out from the concrete bases and columns in fine exposed concrete and contributes to well-being.

Dark acoustic ceiling as a design element

The walls and floors are kept bright in both the hallway and the offices, including the small kitchen for the employees. The design concept is rounded off perfectly by black Troldtekt acoustic ceiling panels with a linear structure. A varied lighting concept has been integrated into this solution. Classic Danish luminaires were combined with linear luminaires installed on the ceiling like a guide system.
